Recovery Carriers

William White defines recovery carriers as “people, usually in recovery, who make recovery infectious to those around them by their openness about their recovery experiences, their quality of life and character, and the compassion they exhibit for those still suffering.” (www.williamwhitepapers.com, 2012)

Recovery carriers are an invaluable component of the New Recovery Advocacy Movement, a movement gaining weight and depth as more people step into the public light with their personal stories of recovery and move further away from the darkness of shame and even fear.

B Here Today in January 2014 begins a recovery series focusing on Recovery Carriers and their dynamic efforts to change the face of recovery in the world.  We owe a huge thanks to each of them, not only for sharing their stories here, but for their individual and collective contributions to bring addiction recovery out of the shadows forever.
